What's In My Garden?- June 2017

Although the first official day of Summer isn't until tomorrow, it sure hasn't felt much like Spring these past few weeks. Highs have consistently been in the upper 80s and low 90s, with very little rain. And don't even get me started on the Northern Virginia humidity...yuck! Miraculously though, my garden is thriving.

Dahlias have begun blooming! They may just be my absolute favorite flower ever.

Lots of lilies...

And a little ladybug too!

Clematis vine still going strong.

After lots of pruning (and pricked fingers!), my roses are beginning their second showing.

There are a couple of new lovelies too. Well, new to me at least. I received them as transplants from a colleague and neighbor's gardens.

How pretty is this purple coneflower?

And these cheery little sundrops? I'm loving the pops of yellow they bring to my flower bed.

Apparently ladybugs aren't the only creatures loving my garden...

Want to know what my veggies have been up to? Just take a look.

Tomatoes, broccoli, and basil...oh my!

Green bell pepper...

Do you see what I see??? Baby jalapenos! I can't wait to make poppers!

My cucumber plant produced some of THE best cucumbers I've ever tasted. I couldn't keep No. 1 away from them! Unfortunately, the leaves succumbed to powdery mildew and I had to cut it back completely. So sad. Fingers crossed that it'll grow back! If you have any tips, I'd love for you to share them with me. I'm desperate!

And finally, check out my cherry tomato plant.

It's already taller than No. 3! Ha!

July's "What's In My Garden" will be here before you know it. Stay tuned!
