Thankful Thursday- May 18, 2017

  • Me time. I finally got my hurr did, y'all! Bye-bye, grays! You know it was time when your eleven-year-old started counting them out...aloud...in public. "Whoa, you have twelve gray hairs mom!". True story. My stylist dyed my hair a chocolate brown, added some reddish-burgundy highlights using the Balayage technique, and cut two inches off. I left out of the salon feeling like a new woman!
  • Boys who garden. Well, at least one boy who gardens. No. 3 loves helping me! He helps me with planting, watering, and my daily checking on the progress of our veggies. Which by the way, are looking great! Squash, green bell peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, and tomatoes have already begun forming. I think gardening is not only a fun way to get your children outdoors, but also a great way of teaching them to appreciate all of the hard work that goes into producing food before it hits the grocery store shelves.
  • Farmers market season. I visited my first farmers market of the year this past Sunday. Hubby, No. 2, and No. 3 went with me as well (I'm pretty sure the fact that it was Mother's Day may have had a little something to do with that). I am always amazed by the loads of fresh produce and beautiful flowers. My guys kept busy tasting all of the free samples, more so than admiring the views. Ha! We brought home spinach, Asian pears, and strawberries. Yum!
  • Electronics-free time. My boys aren't allowed to play video games during the school week. That has always been the rule in our home. This doesn't mean that they still aren't in front of screens though. Between the t.v. and phones, I sometimes struggle with finding the "perfect" balance. The other day I took their handhelds away, and lo and behold, my boys picked up their sketch books! It was such a breath of fresh air to see them sitting with a pencil and paper... and actually enjoying themselves.
  • TGIF, I mean T. Thank God it's Thursday. It's been a long week, mamas. I'm so ready for the weekend. Ready to sleep in a little, ready to see my boys play, and ready to enjoy some R&R time with my hubby. Happy Friday Eve!

What are you thankful for today?
