Thankful Thursday- March 2, 2017

  • It's March! Which means that SPRING is almost here! Only 18 more days to be exact. I'm ready for the longer days, warmer temps, and the beautiful flowers. Picnics at the park, more hikes, and the Cherry Blossom Festival are a few of the things on my bucket list. March also means the beginning of Spring sports. You didn't really think I was going to get a break did you?? No. 1 will be playing AAU basketball, No. 2 will be playing soccer, and No. 3 will be playing flag football. I can't wait to start spending more time outdoors!
  • My stylish little cousin. Okay, so she's 27 years old and two inches taller than me, but she will always be my "little" cousin. She took me on my first adventure in consignment shopping. I'll admit, I'm a bit snobbish when it comes to shopping, you could even say a little lazy. I like to find what I'm looking for without having to actually look for it. Does that make sense? While I did have to "look" at the consignment shop, it didn't disappoint. It was quite fun, actually. Kind of like a scavenger hunt. I ended up finding a pair of Madewell jeans and some Nike leggings, both perfect fits and both at a fraction of the price that the department stores charge. Score!
  • Facebook and meat fast. This year for Lent I decided to give up Facebook as well as meat. All meat might I add; chicken and red meat. I'm actually already 8 days sans meat. And guess what? I'm still alive! Ha! I'm hoping that this 40 day fast will give me more time to enjoy life's little things; like phone calls to check in on friends and family instead of relying on Facebook statuses and fresh fruits and vegetables instead of processed junk. (Btw, if you know of any tasty vegetarian recipes, please feel free to share them below). Who knows? It may end up lasting longer than 40 days!
  • One little left. There are days that I still am in shock that my boys are already 13, 11, and 8. How did that happen so quickly? I swear I was JUST feeling their hiccups and kicks inside my belly. I found the following quote on Pinterest and am trying my best to live by it, "Let me love you a little more before you're not little anymore.". Makes my heart ache just thinking about it. No. 1 and No. 2 don't want much of their mama's affection these days, but thankfully No. 3 still does! He actually lost a tooth three days ago and I lit up on the inside at the chance to still be able to play tooth fairy. I've been trying to squeeze in as many kisses, trips to the playground, and walks holding hands as possible. Time (unfortunately) stops for no one.
  • More playoffs!!! Both No. 1 AND No. 2's teams won their playoff games this past weekend, which means they're BOTH in the semifinals! (Stay calm mama, stay calm). No. 2's team came from 12 points behind (12 points!) to win a nail biter, 34-32. He actually helped seal the deal by making his free throws in the very last seconds! No. 1's team had to win two games to get into the semifinals. They won their Saturday game BIG by defeating the other team, 69-46! They then had to turn around and play the second seed on Sunday, who came in rested as they had a bye during the first round. Final score of that game...53-45! I love when the "underdogs" pull it off! One more win for each team, and they're in the Championships! Fingers (and toes!) crossed!

What are you thankful for today?
